oh my god, i'm such boring yuppie scum!

through no one's fault but my own, i've become a complete sell-out tied helplessly to my possessions and affectations, with very little interesting to say and even less to contribute.

shit. when did this happen?

Donna recommended Nara Sushi on Polk to us last night. they have an "all you can eat" deal on Wednesdays. i was apprehensive about the deal, sure it would be terrible fish that would be revisited later that night when i keeled over from food poisoning. smells reminiscent of old fishing boats and toxic waste shores wafted through my hypothetical meal. but the reality was so much better.

"the fish is fresh today!" chirped the sushi chef as i swooned at the melt-in-your-mouth flavor. i think he liked that we appreciated how good the fish was. we tried all sorts of tasty things -- crunchy rolls, mountain rolls, unagi, something with baked salmon on top, something delicious called "Triple A." we ate until we were very full, all for $20 a person including miso soup. what a deal!

Corinne's on call a lot this month which means she's either driving to work ass early in the morning or driving home from work ass early in the morning after working most of the night with maybe an hour or two of sleep. either way, she needs something to keep her awake during the drive across the bridge. so i made her a mix that's better than coffee:

things i did this weekend:

• went to Great America, rode the rollercoasters, and won Corinne a stuffed animal which she promptly gave away to a little girl in a stroller.
• watched baseball and then played eight hours of Half Life: Opposing Force until i felt woozy and realized i hadn't moved nor eaten in that period of time.
• volunteered to cook dinner last minute and whipped up sesame encrusted pork loin, coriander sweet potato mash, and greens. it was good.
• watched some Olympic coverage i'd taped the night before and fast-forwarded through most of it because the announcers are idiots. all of them.

things i did not do this weekend:

• go to the gym. oops.
• call Yve. oops.
• spend lots of money on things i didn't need. yay!

i have failed to post much of substance in a while, so i'll catch you up on a few of my goings-on and pepper it with various angry commentaries on the world.
