February 11, 2002: " so i'll just procrastinate "

i am not motivated. slump. it's because i went to bed late last night. that is probably my biggest vice. i just don't want to go to bed! i am not a morning person! stupid sunshine.

mom called me on my way to work complaining about her computer being broken and i totally snipped at her. i called back later and apologized and did my best to do battle with her pathetic little iMac over the phone. i won but i still think she needs a new computer.

just after i hung up with her (sorry, world, for driving and talking on the phone), a blue Audi goes whizzing by me like i'm standing still. i look down at my speedometer and i'm going like 90. he must have been doing at least 120 if not much more. in traffic! frightening. i mean, i drive fast but i'm realistic.

anyways, my weekend was nice. i didn't indulge in the beautiful weather as much as i should have. Saturday, i didn't leave the house until the sun went down. actually, i slept most of the day but it was really, really wonderful. i managed to climb out of the covers in time to go eat and drink with Donna and her boyfriend. we gleefully harassed our waiter and grumbled how Gordon Biersch (their idea) has great ideas of food but always seems to mess it up. my biggest complaint is everything is so salty! bleh! but the fried artichoke hearts were so yum.

i left complaining that my belly could not possibly hold another thing and we drove around trying to find parking near the Tunnel Top until i decided i'd much rather go home. so i did. and that was that. well, except for Erik nearly running a red light and scaring the shit out of me. not something to do on a full stomach.

Sunday, i took in a leisurely morning before heading over to meet Marie's landlord. he hadn't really told me what he wanted to talk about but i figured it was a good first step in getting her apartment. turns out it was a whole lot more fruitful than that. we sat and talked for about two minutes before he said, "well, the apartment is yours if you want it." um, that was easy. we walked next door and found Marie in the place. Marie and i jumped around and giggled after John left -- she's just as happy that i'm getting the place.

so, yeah, i'm moving. for those of you who've seen my current place, you may be perplexed. "but Sean, what about the view? what about the beautiful red walls? why do you need to move?" it may be especially confusing since i swore up and down that i wasn't ever moving unless i bought a house or i moved in with someone. well, you don't understand how long i've lusted after Marie's place. less so since i've had a nest all my own but still lingering. it's much bigger -- there's an actual bedroom rather than the walk-in closet i currently sleep in. plus three closets, a living room practically the same size as the one i have now, an eating area/office, a good-sized kitchen, and a back "deck" with a view. really, could i pass it up? not when it's $100 cheaper and easier to park. there may even be garage space for one or more of my motor vehicles.

and i promise to paint my living room red, just to appease those of you who love the color so.

so after spending some time with Marie, eating her french fries, taking pictures of the stuff she wants to sell, wondering where i'm going to put all my stuff and just ever so slightly freaking out about moving, i headed over to the Haight and found rockstar parking. went down to Buffalo Exchange with the intent of just selling some clothes but ended up buying a pea coat as well. love the pea coat. missed the pea coat. i had one in highschool that i adored until Chatko the cat turned it into a "pee" coat.

then over to Whole Foods to get a few supplies, flirt with the extremely cute vitamin counter girl, and round up some uncharacteristically mediocre lunch bites to munch on in front of what little bits of Olympics NBC was letting us see.

and so ended my nice weekend.
