oh, so that's the problem! smoking pot is what brought down the twin towers. of course!
no, it wasn't our invasive relationships with oil-rich countries that support our ever-increasing reliance on fossil fuels because we can't as a society say no to outrageously huge vehicles with ridiculously low fuel economy. silly me.
and it wasn't our archaic laws against some drugs (e.g. pot) while others are subsidized (e.g. coffee). or even our very expensive ($40 billion on enforcement and "education" plus $9 billion on incarceration per year) and very unsuccessful (75% failure rate) War On Drugs. or the fact that by making certain drugs illegal, we've made them incredibly profitable to sell.
so it must be that guy lighting up a J at a party somewhere. the guy with a good job, a good sense of community, a good sense of right and wrong. it's his fault. and if we stop him, we'll stop terrorism. because there is no money for terrorism except for drug money. and there are no drug users but our own.
if you have no idea what i'm talking about but feel incensed anyway, well, you missed a pair of lovely commercials during the Superbowl yesterday. and by lovely, i mean absolutely outrageous.
the first commercial showed images of the things needed to accomplish terrorist activities (guns, box cutters, plane tickets, etc.) and their price tags. then "Where do terrorists get their money? If you buy drugs, some of it might come from you."
the second ad, dubbed the "I Helped" ad, had teen actors stating things like, "I helped the bomber get a fake passport," and "I helped kill a family in Columbia." this coupled with sentiments like, "It's not like I was hurting anyone else."
what a disgusting message. what a misguided message. what an ineffective message. boo. hiss.
