gross. i just lost my big toenail.
now i know what you're saying, "guh! what?!" (except for that guy in the back who's asking, "well, where did you see it last?") so i suppose i should explain.
a few months ago during a soccer game, my big toe was crushed by a cleat. it instantly turned blue and then black. it's been that way ever since. well, until recently when it began to separate from the toe. it was all floppy and there was all sorts of nasty dried blood and general body goo underneath. yummy! this morning i trimmed it a bit and just now, the whole damn thing came right off. just like that.
so i have no big toenail on my right foot. at least, no normal toenail. there's a mutant mooshed toenail growing in but it looks pretty fucked up now and may not get much better with time. what's curious, if just slightly, is that my grandfather, after whom i'm named and whom i respect more than anything, had a similar affliction on his right thumb. coincidence? genetic bad luck? the effects of Garbial Garcia Marquez-esque cyclical time?
well, he is my role model after all.
