i do love the rain. it smells good. it tastes good. and even if it's not actually falling, it feels good. i feel warm, inspired, comforted by it. it has nothing to do with vague ideas like washed away sins, except the reminder of home. it is pure sensation.

i love the night. mid-night. a weekday. walking around when crossing an intersection can be done diagonally. meeting only handfuls of people. staring aimlessly into a store window, not really looking. hearing my breaths and the sound of my footsteps. stopping for a moment to listening to a distance throb of the city. it's surprisingly bright then.

walking on freshly rained streets, under darkened still drizzling skies, just after midnight. the air is fresh. the smell is good. i own the blocks i walk. it is both meditative and exciting at once. it is a moment of perfection.
