May 29, 2001: " a day at the ballpark "

Sunday was day at the new ballpark day. well, actually, the park is in its second season but the first go around was so popular that it was nearly impossible to get tickets. not that i even tried.

on a whim, i got together two of my closest friends and one's significant other, who counts as a good friend not only because he makes Marie very happy but because he's super cool in his own right, for a day at the park. i rounded up four bleacher seats, that turned into amazing just-behind-center-field seats, from a scalper. i mean, a broker. a reseller. whatever. he turned out to be a cool guy who resold company season tickets that weren't being used. but considering he charged us double the face value, i think he deserves my original title for him.

anyways, the ballpark is much fun! an excellent place to spend an afternoon. unlike Candlestick Park, the old home of Giants baseball, it is -not- freezing year round. in fact, despite the clouds and the brisk weather outside the gates, inside it was quite pleasant. our amazingly good seats were probably some of the best in the house. we could yell lewd remarks at the other team's outfield (and our own, if given reason), amenities -- including garlic fries and $6.75 microbrews -- were just a few steps away, and we were constantly in jeopardy of catching a home run, though they tended that day to shank left and right of us.

i even taught my unruly trio of friends the Chicken Dance and we all invented the Evil Chicken Dance.
