no. really. stop hitting my car. i like my car. it's pretty. it goes fast. it's good to me. so stop beating on it.
as you may have read earlier, i recently got my car out of the shop after having it banged up and in repair for a couple months. yesterday, while driving down Market, the windows down, the music playing, me smiling, a boy from Oregon in his BMW turned left in front of me and, not having any time to stop, i plowed into him.
the first person to run to my window was a homeless man who'd been begging for spare change. "he was so wrong," he said. "you can't turn left on Market!" which you can't. at least at most intersections. and even if he could, being that i was going straight, i very much had the right of way.
the second person to run to my window was the other driver. "are you alright?" he asked sincerely. to which i grumbled, "yes. y'know, i just got my car out of the shop two weeks ago."
i was uninjured. my car is drivable. and the exchange of information passed easily. i'm getting quite good at handling accidents. i know exactly what to do. but it's not a skill i particularly want to nuture.
i called the insurance companies and there won't be much of a problem. i called Milton at the auto body shop but he didn't find it all that amusing that i was bringing back more car injuries. oh, and while the car is drivable, it does have one annoying injury: the driver's side window fell off its mounts in the crash and will now not roll up. so i have clear plastic taped over the window which does little to keep driving noise, or would be burglars, out.
