it is with pure annoyance and disgust that i must declare myself disconnected from the Internet. my ISP, without so much as a peep, has gone out of the DSL business.
i came home last night to no access. and after half-an-hour on hold, i found out that my digital link to the outside world had been rudely severed. now, i knew that NorthPoint, the chosen provider of my chosen ISP, was going out of business. but i had no idea that Verio, the evil ISP, was going completely out of the DSL business. and it would have been nice, decent, expected of them to give us some notice. for me, it's a matter of inconvenience. for businesses who rely on that line, however, it's a matter of survival.
but nooooo ... we were left hanging without notice and without options. "we'll gladly provide you with a dial-up account for 60 days," says the unfunnily sarcastic tech support guy. like transferring multi-megabyte files over a 56k modem is any fun.
you know, if any other services (phone, electricity, water, cable) operated this poorly, i'd move out into the woods.
bitter.
