someone posted this on Craig's List this morning and it took me a bit of head squishing to get it. can you?

three people check into a hotel room that is $30.00 and each pay $10.00. later, the front desk lady realizes that they've been over charged $5.00, so she gives $5.00 to the bellhop and asks him to give it back to the three people. on the way, he decides to pocket $2.00 and just give each guy $1.00 back.

if each of the guys got a buck back, they each ended up paying $9.00, right? and if they each paid $9.00, the total paid was $27.00, plus the two bucks in the bellhop's pocket makes $29.00. so where's the extra dollar?
