that's right ... it's my birthday. and even though i've been telling everyone for the past couple months that i'm twenty-five, now i really am. now i can ... get cheaper auto insurance and ... tell everyone i'm a quarter century old and ... well, that's pretty much it.

except for the kitsch number value, twenty-five doesn't carry with it much significance. i mean, i feel more adult. i think telling people i'm twenty-five provides me a certain perceived validity i wouldn't otherwise receive at twenty-four and certainly not at twenty-three. but without the insurance companies, i'm not officially being recognized as more mature.

it's just another day in the eyes of the institution.

well, except that it's also the anniversary of the start of the American Revolution, the first blood of the Civil War, the day of the Oklahoma City bombing, the day of the Waco, Texas, massacre (see this movie: Waco: the Rules of Engagement), and assorted other rabble-rousings. oh, and Jayne Mansfield was born.
