October 25, 2002: " peace and drugs "

whoever introduced me to the game Drug Lord will pay. i stayed up until 2:00am last night playing that stupid game. oh what a waste of time. and yet, reaching the level of a multi-billion-dollar drug lord is strangely satisfying.

the parents and the sister arrive today. they're all staying with me, too. which will be the first true test of the "new" place. the "old" place wouldn't have ever held that many sleeping people without us killing each other. but the "new" place is so much bigger. Amber and i can stay up late watching TV or whatever, and mom and dad can do their usual asleep with the sun routine. the place is also quite clean. actually, it was already quite clean and i only had to wash the tub and the sink in the bathroom. that is a testament to my developing sense of cleanliness and order. i am one with my home. om.

mom and dad are coming down for a couple reasons: 1) to march in a peace rally tomorrow (see the bottom of this post for more info), 2) to meet Corinne, and 3) to meet Amber's live-in boyfriend whose name is suddenly escaping me. oh, and 4) to watch Game 6 of the World Series. they've become quite the baseball fans, especially my mom. we were calling back and forth all night last night during the game. "what were you saying about Jeff Kent sucking?? huh?" "Shinjo hits like a girl." etcetera. it's very amusing. dad says he's not quite sure mom should be allowed to watch games with other people. apparently she says some things that might be questionable in mixed company. like "wow, white people all look alike." uh huh.

now, about this peace rally thing. tomorrow, October 26, all over the country people will be marching in protest of the impending war against Iraq. this is the first time in the United States that people have truly rallied against a war before it happens. it's estimated that 100,000 people will show up in Washington, D.C. we hope our little side protest in the City will also be quite large. if you're interested in marching, we will begin at Justin Herman Plaza, near the Ferry Building and the beginning of Market Street at 11:00am. the march will go up Market Street to Civic Center Plaza. there will be rally speeches before and after the march. (we plan on avoiding both.) public transportation is highly recommended and highly accessible. take BART to the Embarcadero station, take any Muni underground to the same, the 38 Geary, the F line and several other buses go right to that location. hope to see you there.
