the purpose: celebrate my birthday. the gang: a mash of my favorite pimps and hos. the result: an Andy Warhol-esque party scene and a whole lotta skin.

they arrived in teeny short dresses, zoot suits, things that shimmered and sparkled, feather boas, knee-high boots, dog collars, and their underwear. i eyed them from underneath my big, black afro and said, with a smile, "can i fix you a strong drink?" a few hours later, there were balloons flying everywhere under the disco ball and i was mixing Funkadelic into drum'n'bass.

i called it the "PIMPs and HOs" party, expecting a few of my more adventurous friends to dress-up and show off. but every single person who walked through my front door that night was dressed to the hilt. i was impressed. i was amazed. and i was ever so slightly turned on.

the whole thing reminded me how much i love house parties and told me i need to give more of them. (theme for next time: "Hell: a Costume Party")
