i think someone signed me up for the Republican National Committee mailing list because i just got email about the recent decision by the "radical court in San Francisco" about the pledge of allegiance ("This ruling is further proof that we need to end the judicial crisis and fill the vacancies with the men and women of distinction that President Bush has nominated.") and at the bottom it said that i was receiving this mail because i'd signed up for the RNC mailing list. being that i think politics are gross and the Republican Party even more so, i'm pretty sure it wasn't me who added myself to the list.

by the way, if you wanted to prod me for an opinion on the whole pledge dealie, i'd tell you that it was about time. for those of us whose religions (or lack thereof) have nothing to do with God, we're poignantly aware of the difference between the idea of the separation of church and state, and the application of it in the United States. on the other hand, the relative evil of mumbling "under God" is fairly small and certainly not something i'm going to lose sleep over. especially when i remember chanting the pledge as a kid and having absolutely no idea what any of it meant.
